| Commentary | Tingalpa is a thriving suburb with many recent residential developments. The suburb has some older style weatherboard and chamferboad homes built in the post-war period, but renovated properties are becoming more common. Many of the newer estates are made up of typically low-set and high-set brick-and-tile homes. The land that is now being developed into residential zones was previously devoted to small farmlets and semi-industrial developments.
The new developments are now increasing the population and the median house price of the suburb. Proximity to the Gateway Motorway makes Tingalpa convenient for accessing the main routes to the Gold and Sunshine Coasts. Also convenient is the nearby Murarrie railway station that runs west to the city and east to Manly and the bay plus several bus routes from Tingalpa to neighbouring suburbs. Tingalpa is serviced by a local state school plus private primary and high schools in the nearby suburbs of Wynnum and Wynnum West and Manly and Manly West. Located in nearby Murarrie is an RSL club, the Brisbane Polo Grounds and Murarrie Recreation Ground. The main shopping facilities are located in neighbouring Cannon Hill, Manly West and Wynnum West, although Tingalpa does have supermarkets within its borders. One outstanding feature of the area is the extensive Minnipi Parklands, through which the Bulimba Creek runs and provides a conveniently located canoe club venue. Tingalpa is also a short drive to the bayside suburbs of Wynum and Manly. Source: REIQ |
